Explanation

• Swami Dayanand made immense contribution to Hindi. Originally a Gujarati and a scholar of Sanskrit, he advocated Hindi as a common language for the whole of India. He started writing in Hindi and contributed articles to journals essentially engaged in religious and social reforms. Satyartha Prakash was his most important work in Hindi.

• A very important landmark was achieved by William Carey by composing a grammar of Bengali. He also published an English-Bengali dictionary and also wrote books on dialogues and stories.

• Munshi Prem Chand enriched Hindi literature by his phenomenal works. He tried to draw the attention of the society to the miserable existence of the poor. Munshi Prem Chand, who is supposed to be a doyen of Hindi literature, began his writings in Urdu, but later switched over to Hindi.
