• Underground networks were one of the prominent features of the Quit India Movement. An All India underground leadership with prominent leaders, such as Achyuta Patwardhan, Aruna Asaf Ali, Ram Manohar Lohia, Sucheta Kriplani, etc. was made.
• They collected and distributed money, as well as materials such as bomb, arms and dynamite to underground groups all over the country.
• Among the places in which local underground organisations were active include Bombay, Poona, Satara, Baroda and other parts of Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, U.P. and Bihar.
• In these underground networks, businessmen used to donate generously, students acted as courier, simple villagers helped by refusing information to the police. Pilots and train drivers delivered the bombs and other materials across the country.
• Congress radio operated clandestinely from different locations in Bombay city whose broadcast could be heared as far as Madras. Ram Manohar Lohia made regular broadcast on this radio. It continued to operate till November, 1942, when it was discovered and confiscated.
