Some of the states, in which these were organised, include Mysore, Hyderabad, Baroda, Kathiawad, Deccan, Jamnagar, Indore and Nawanagar. This process came to a head in 1927, with the convening of the All India State’s People’s Conference (AISPC), which was attended by many political workers from the states. The men chiefly responsible for this initiative include Balwantrai Mehta, Maniklal Kothari and G. R. Abhyankar.
